Your Own Domain Email In GMail
Thursday October 2nd 2008
I like to use GMail. It have sleek features and very good interface. But, when you try to approach other people with something like, your_username@gmail.com, it doesn’t look professional if compared to something like, yourname@yourdomain.com. Agree with me?
It is the same like showing your blog with yourblog.blogspot.com compare to yourdomain.com . Which one will make more reputable impression?
Yes, the one with your unique identity that is your own dot com extension.
And I know, web mail that provided in your cPanel is nothing compare to Gmail.
Here’s how to do it.
Redirect Your Email Into GMail
First thing that you have to do is, redirect your email to your GMail account. Here’s how to do it.
Login into your cPanel. And Click Mail. See the red spot in the image below. Your cPanel layout may vary from the one below.

A new page should appear. This time, please click Forwarders.
After you have clicked Forwarders, a new page will load. Click Add Forwarder to open up another page.
Fill in your desired username in the first field area, and fill the last form with your GMail email.

The most important thing is,click Add Forwarder button before closing this page. We are done with email redirection.
Setup Your Email Domain In GMail
After logging in into your Gmail, click Settings. See the red spot in the image below.

Then click Accounts. Then click Add Another Email Address.

You will be brought into new page. Fill in your name, and your own domain desired email in the form.

Name - This is your name that will be revealed to your recipient.
Email address - Fill in this area with your own domain desired email address. Example, yourname@yourdomain.com.
Then click Next Step. Ignore the message prompt you to insert the verification code. Just close the page.
Now, GMail will send you the email into the email address that you insert in the field before. But, it will be forwarded back into your GMail email because we have setup a forwarder beforehand.
Hence, check your email that coming from GMail team. Click the link to verify your ownership.
We’re done!
Reply With Your Own Domain Email From GMail
Now, all email that sent to yourname@yourdomain.com will be forwarded into your GMail.
When you reply to others or composing a new mail, you can always switch between email by clicking the drop down menu in the From area. Now, I hope that will be useful for you. Good luck!
I am sure I make myself clear above, but if you have any question, do ask.
p/s: Do you have better idea than this one?

@bantingboy, well do you do the rest like in my tutorials?
It is useless if people send you email using yourname@yourdomain.com and when you reply, it shows that you’re using yourname@gmail.com…
Just my opinion…

@BM, hi ate…
I wonder why you just move out from blogspot?
I don’t know yet how to do handle domain without hosting.
But, maybe we use google applications instead?
I’ll cover that in next topic…

@BM, above, I mean why don’t you just move out from blogspot and use wordpress… There are many free hosting that support wordpress too… But there are many cheap reliable hosting too…
