But several days after that(today), I was having a casual conversation with my friend which is not an internet marketeer but more as ordinary internet end user.  We are talking about tastycakeever and then he show me a video that was posted on YouTube about our topic.  The video was interesting.  But that’s not the important thing I want to tell you in this post.

As you know YouTube have two column, one for the video and the other smaller column is for related video and sometimes they put an advertisement by Google there.

Yes, the important findings that I want to share to you guys is about the advertisement that I see there!

For your information, Google Adsense(the advertisement provider) is the most advance in contextual advertisement where they only show relevant advertisement for that particular individual web page.  So that’s mean the advertisement that I saw just now is VERY RELEVANT to tastycakeever!

Wow!

I yelled at the screen when I realize that.  The hobby that I never thought to monetize is possible to be my next income stream.

Em… I have to cut this into two part, if you want to read more, please do because I don’t want everything appears on my homepage. I will share what I do next. Please do read the rest of this post to find out what happen.

As a wise webmaster, or internet marketeer to be exact I won’t put Google Ads on that blog because the income per click from Google Ads are not that profitable nowadays.  There are better way.  For this time I am choosing to do an affiliate marketing.  Clickbank.

So I visit Clickbank website and logging in.  After that I go to market place and search for tastycakeever.  To make myself more surprise there were more than 600 pages search result returning from my search!  But that was only a raw search.  So I use the advance search feature and setting up some filter and then do the search again.  The result now are filtered and I should easily choose the best product according to my intuitive internet marketing heart.

But then I remember I was using the free Blogger blog services.

Ah~ Say No To Blogger For Serious Blog!

I said that to myself.  It seems that WordPress is still the best blogging platform when you are serious to make money from blog.  Because with WordPress self hosted, you own your content 100% and no one can take it from you.  For affiliate purpose, there are a lot of tools that exist in term of plugins(add on) for WordPress.  Comparing to Blogger, which is primitively for blog publishing there are still a lot to improve and wish list that have not yet come true in Blogger.

So I turn off the custom domain settings in my Blogger Dashboard and then go to NameCheap to point my DNS to my web hosting provider.

Overall, I did not pay much attention to every updated version that WordPress released to public.  I just want to let my self to use the best and the latest version of WordPress so there will be no security issue for my blog.

But in WordPress version 3.0 I found out that they have change the default WordPress theme into a new theme.  Well, let’s say goodbye to kubrik then.  Kubrik have been the default theme since I use WordPress on version 1.8 and now WordPress have gone through a serious major improvement that it now reach version 3.0

The interface and the default colour scheme for the administration page is almost like you’re using MAC.  I’m not a big fan of MAC, in fact I never use MAC. I am a Windows fan boy and I program windows application, never for OSX.  But the interface is clean and “easy to eye”.  So congratulation to WordPress developer team for all the great works.

WordPress 3.0

Using this simple solution also lacks of tracking. ?We do not know how much sales for today for example. ?We need to manually find the top seller and other.

For small business with limited of item, this solution is great. ?But for a growing number of product. ?The Paypal Add To Cart Button is just not enough.

Stay with me for later post whether I have find a good solution for this.

I’ve been trying to use Joomla last time but it overwhelmed me with its slow loading even on admin interface, and there’s such things as module, etc which is not user friendly at all. ?But indeed, Joomla have more advance feature than WordPress. ?But the learning curve is hard and boring compare to WordPress which is “direct to the point”.

There’s other CMS called Drupal. ?This CMS is light. ?Fast loading. ?Because it was “empty”. ?The basic default function will not be enough to run a lively blog. ?You need to install or code yourself a nods to add more functionality. ?This CMS is considered a kits compare to WordPress which is Ready To Run.

So today me and my friend decided to setup an E-commerce website for out future business which will be based on printing and design services. ?Let’s see if I can develop an E-commerce website using a WordPress CMS.

This is suppose to be posted in my other blog, WPThemestudio.com but it is down, offline and I don’t want to lose the inspiration and post this here. ?Nevermind, I will post something more details there later.

Detecting The Problems

First, we want a website to be functioning as a webstore. ?This webstore will display the picture, prices, and brief description about the product. ?It will use paypal shopping cart feature so we do not need a hassle to write a program for the shopping cart. ?It will have flat rate shipping to all country, or fixed shipping price to supported country. ?Payment will be processed by paypal.

Can I do It?

I think yes.

Blog Interactivity

Readers, obviously they like to read. ?In early 1990′s, the first generation of website, internet surfers can read journals(before the words blog) but they cannot interact directly with the author. ?Far to say interact with other commentators for the journal article. ?The only way they can appraise the author is by sending emails.

Nowadays, we have a comment form feature on a blog. ?This feature is deadly important as it will add interactivity into your blog. ?As of WordPress, they do have this comment form feature, but is very basic and limited. ?Readers may leave comment(s), but they hardly get notification when there’s new reply to their comment(s). ?To add this new feature so commentators have notification send to their email address they used when they leave a comment, we can use this plug-in.

Subscribe To Comments ? Its name is self explanatory. ?It lets commentators to subscribe to that particular post comments reply. ?So when there’s new reply, they will get notified and if they wish they want to voice out their new comments as of respond to the new comments, they may do so.

But how if the reader wants to contact you regardless what is your latest post? ?I mean, they just want to contact you about matters such as banner advertising at your blog, or they are asking you to promote their charity event(if you blog about charity event). ?The conventional way was sending email via your domain email address such as admin@pangeran.org but not all would think of doing this, and what if there’s better and much more easy solution?

Cform II ? You must create a page and embed the form to that page. ?Later, your readers may just leave their message through this comment form.

Security Issues And Administrative Tasks

My website, this blog have been hacked by someone years back. ?As a result, I lose all my posts and contents. ?So we should take precaution where possible.

Sometimes ago, my blog was spammed with unrelated comments that were written in unknown language. ?Some of them promoting casinos and viagra. ?Well, I’m not too serious about peoples who wants to promote their new websites, but please take care of your ethics. ?It does matter.

• Akismet ? This come as a package in WordPress. ?So get yourself an ID at http://wordpress.com and activate the plug-in. ?It will chase away those un-appropriate comments on your blog.
• Feedburner ? Redirect your feed to feedburner.
• Google Analytics For WordPress ? It will always good to see your website status so you know what happening out there, I mean at your website.
• Statpress Reloaded ? Another stat counter. This use your server resources. ?Well, two is better than one. Or you can choose either one.
• WordPress.com Stats ? YES! Another stat counter. ?This one using wordpress.com api.
• WP Security Scan ? This plug-in will scan your WordPress installed files against any security hole. ?The warning will appear in RED. ?While you get GREEN, it means your WordPress install is secure against any security attack, well at least you REDUCE the risk.

That’s all my recommended WordPress plug-in. ?I hope the plug-in recommendation will increase your blog interactivity, security and also your serp ranking.

The upgrading process run smoothly and then it run the update database wizard and all done.

The user interface do not change… a lot…
It still like WordPress 2.7 interface.
But in WordPress 2.8, we can decide how many columns we want the widget in our dashboard.

In WordPress 2.8, there are Theme browser, something that functioning like plugin browser that was introduced in WordPress 2.7, just, this is for themes instead for plugins.

Other function, I am not yet find out…

WordPress 2.8 claims that they are faster than WordPress 2.7 because the scripting and styling were re-engineered so it becomes light.

Top Browser

The top ranking browser use by visitors to my website is Firefox! ?With more than 64% users.
It followed by Internet Explorer, but just contributing to around 18% only.
Third place is Google Chrome, my favourite browser because it is so light and fast!

By checking my other websites, I found out that that they have similar browser ranking!

The blogsite is just so new that it still using the default wordpress theme with only one welcome post.

The domain games8mobile.com bring the meaning of Games at mobile. ?Games on your mobile handheld device.

I use the number 8 because it is much more easier to remember, and because we cannot have @ in a domain name.

Beside that, the number 8 also represent good luck.

Installing The Google Custom Search Which Returns The Search Result In Your Website

This example is done with wordpress default theme.

First thing we have to do is getting the code of google custom search.

To do this, you have two option, using adsense or directly to google custom search website.
But both wizard is identical, so don’t worry much about it.

At the first page of the wizard, fill all required field to your like and then click continue.

At the second page of the wizard, you are presented with options on how to customize the look of your search form.
My recomendation is please make the text box lenght to 18 or shorter than that according to your sidebar width.
But if you planning to put your custom search on more wider placement, you can make the number greater.

The third wizard show you an option on where the search result will come out.
Please select?Open results within my own site?.
Before you fill out this field, please open a new window/tab on your browser and login to your wordpress dashboard and make a new page.
Click save draft?and the permalink of the page will be visible underneath the title field area.
Copy the permalink and paste it on the field at the google custom search wizard just now.
You can customize the color palete according to your site scheme color.

After that, you will have two codes, one for the search form, and one for the search result.

?Now let’s get our hand dirty with these codes.

Open the page.php?of your theme and find this code.

Paste the code of the search result under this code or replace it.

After that, paste the code below at the very top.

The code above will register this template page into wordpress.

Now save as googlesearchresult.php

After that, upload this new page template into the theme folder.
In this example, upload it to wp-content/themes/default

Now edit the draft that we made before and make sure the page template is Google Search Result?and then publish this page.

The next step you should do is go to appearance ==> widget ==> and add text widget.
Paste the search form code there.
Click done and then click save.

We are done!
